Past
Shows Of Merit and Delight
Dec.
13th , 2003
National Product, Market St. near Guerrero, SF
Nice people who wanted
cookies came to the re-opening of UPTOWN,
where we took down the art that'd sold (god bless you all)
and put up new stuff like this
and this!
You guessed it, there's a
little web flyer to share with a "special"
friend.
Scrappy
Local Underdog Wins, Even in Loss
I don't think
I posted it here, but I was nominated for SFMOMA's
SECA award, bafflingly. My excellent roommate
Fred (here
are some of his photos) took some slides of
my paintings for me and I sent 'em in, but of
175 artists nominated, 30 made the cut, and I wasn't one
of 'em.
It's OK -- I'm honored to even have been considered (really)
and, like Rocky, even making an cameo appearance in the
bigs was an honor. Many huge thanks to John and Andrea of
66balmy
gallery. And now I have some slides to send out to galleries
to see if I can get shows outta town, and a nice thing to
put on my artist's resume.

National Product
I had a show up
the excellent and quirky gallery/shop National Product this
past holiday season, thanks to the benificence of Doug Domonkos,
the gentleman proprietor of this happening spot. Here's
the preview! Also a
little invite thingy for ER stalker archives.
Oct.
11-12, Open Studios
The Art Explosion, 744 Alabama (at 19th), SF
The
kind and generous folks over at the Art Explosion once again
consented to let me to stink up their joint for SF's Open
Studios. Thanks, folks!
Budget
Gallery's Home & Garden Show
Oct. 3-10/03
I
am honored to have been in the Budget
Gallery's Home & Garden Show on the front of a burned-out
cafe at the corner of Valencia and Duboce streets (near
Zeitgeist) in SF. They do this cool thing where they put
up a show on a formerly underused piece of urban real estate;
check out their site for more info.
El
Rey's BARGANZA!
5/30-31/03
The
show at 66balmy was
a rip-snortin' good time. Thanks to all who came down! For
your ephemera collection, here's the flyer
and press release.
BUILD
12/23/02
Me
and Angie of Deviant
Goods and our talented photog pals Richard
Kadrey and Dyche
Mullins put on a little do at BUILD,
on Guererro Street in SF, near 17th street, on Monday, December
23rd. MC Hesher caressed eardrums and Cakehaus SF hawked
extra-stylish baking ware and tasty baked treats. As has
tended to be the case with these things, there was a
pulchritudinous flyer!
El
Rey's Fiesta Plana at Nat’l Prod., SF
11/1-30/02
The opening party at Doug Domonkos' National
Product, a new gift shop/gallery at 1845 Market Street,
was a big ol' pile of fun. MC Hesher killed, the
99c Buds flowed, and everyone seemed to have a nice time.
I sure did. Here's
the flyer with some previews, and here's a gallery
of the art, with a couple of party shots taken by
Mr. Jeffrey.

Balmy Redux: Thumbs Up, Say Masses!
July 27th 2002
Your humble acrylic-slapper returned once again
to the sparkly and pleasant-smelling 66
Balmy gallery on Saturday July 27th to shill his
imagery. MC Hesher
once again rocked the wheels of aluminum, and the assembled
masses seemed to have a swell time. I know I did. Thanks
to anyone who came and had a good time, said hi, and/or
wore a pair of Devil Bunny underpants outside of her trousers.
The handsome,
collector-quality flyer is still available for perusal.
Here are the photos!
May
11th 2002
I had a panoply of ill-conceived scrawlings up
at LoFi Customs
(on Mission St. in SF, near 14th St.). Here's
the flyer! They'll be making future E. R. tshirts and
such for me, and I'll have some stuff in their store soon
and into the future.
April
2002
The
MELT show at The Art Explosion was fun,
if humbling. There are some really talented (and nice!)
folks there. Thanks again to Mr.
Don Ross for not only letting me be a part of the show,
but swapping for some amazing photographs!
April
2002
Monkeys and Cheap Beer Night at
the 66 Balmy gallery was a resounding success. Thank
all of you who came to the show, drank a toast in farflung
locales, or forgot about the whole thing and watched TV.
Here are some pictures!
(And
here's the flyer for your collection of El Rey Memorabilia.)
Older shows, for which no snappy patter is currently available:
July-Sept. 2001 - The Attic, SF, CA - solo show
Dec. 2001 - 66 Balmy, SF, CA - group show
